New Football Rules

There is a new webpage for football rules. The main purpose of the new web page is to make the rules easier to read online, more mobile-friendly for reading on phones, easier to print, and easier for volunteers to update.

Along the way, we edited the text of some of the rules to make them more clear. We also changed a few rules with permission of YSF. To see recent changes to the rules, you can always go to the rules page and click the “change log” link at the top of that page.

Order Apparel Online

All DIFL participants, parents, coaches, and other volunteers, can now order apparel online—Rams, Mustangs, and Eagles.

Shop DIFL Apparel Online

Visit the DIFL Apparel Store, add your selections to your cart, and checkout with your payment method of choice. When you first land on the home page of the DIFL Apparel Store, you will see a slide show that will show you the various logos that will appear on your merchandise. As you shop, images of merchandise will *NOT* show you these logos, but be assured that the logos will appear on the merchandise you order.

Deadlines

Orders will be grouped into four (4) batches, and each batch has its own deadline. After each deadline, the orders in that batch are processed and delivered about two (2) weeks following the deadline. The deadlines are as follows.

  1. Deadline for ordering in batch #1 is August 19 with delivery approximately two weeks later.
  2. Deadline for ordering in batch #2 is August 26 with delivery approximately two weeks later.
  3. Deadline for ordering in batch #3 is September 2 with delivery approximately two weeks later.
  4. Deadline for ordering in batch #4 is September 16 with delivery approximately two weeks later.

Distribution

Orders will be distributed to the practice locations approximately two (2) weeks after each order batch’s deadline. (See deadlines above.)

How to Pay

All orders must be placed online using a credit card or debit card. If you do not have a debit card or credit card, a “prepaid card” can be purchased at Walmart or your local bank or credit union.

Jersey Numbers

DIFL and YSF cannot guarantee that your child will have the same jersey number from one year to the next. Please keep that in mind when ordering apparel if the apparel will include a jersey number.

Rosters

All parents should have received email communication confirming which teams their children have been assigned to. If you have not yet received notification of your child’s team assignment, please send email to Contact@TheDIFL.com to let us know.

Chin Strap Orders

When you registered your child for the upcoming football season, you were presented with an opportunity to order an optional chin strap with a harder, more protective cup. If you did indeed order one or more chin straps when you registered, and if you have not yet received them, please contact the DIFL by emailing registrar@thedifl.com by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 28.

Equipment Pickup

Equipment pickup will take place at Green Acres Storage, 2126 Holliday Dr, Dubuque, on the following dates and times.

  • Eagles: Saturday, July 30, 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
  • Mustangs: Sunday, July 31, 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • Rams: Sunday, July 31, 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Important Updates

Parents of DIFL football and cheer participants, please read the following important updates and pass this information on to your children who are participating. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact DIFL.

Draft is today!

DIFL’s official draft is scheduled for today—Thursday, July 21, 2016—at 4:30 p.m. This is a closed event for DIFL directors only, but information will be communicated to parents and participants who will have an opportunity to provide feedback, ask questions, etc. The purpose of the draft is to assign participants to teams in an unbiased and somewhat random manner, partly based on weight. In the days following the draft, DIFL will communicate via email to let parents know the teams to which their children have been assigned. And since parents will be placed on the various teams’ email lists, more email communications will follow as the start of practice approaches.

Practice

Practice is expected to begin the first week of August. In the coming days, expect more information via email regarding practice times and locations.

Equipment

Equipment pick-up time and location will be announced very soon. Most equipment will be provided, including helmet, shoulder pads, padded pants, and mouth guard. Participants are responsible for providing their own athletic protector (cup, athletic supporter, etc), cleated football shoes, and water bottle. All non-metal cleated football shoes sold in local sporting goods stores and shoe stores will be acceptable. Some participants may choose to upgrade the DIFL-supplied mouth guard by purchasing their own. Participants may also supply other optional equipment, including gloves, arm pads, elbow pads, undershirts, etc.

Games

Games will begin in September. The game schedule will be communicated via email and our website after the draft and as soon as YSF is able to develop the schedule for the Eagle Bluff Conference in which all DIFL teams compete.Each team will compete in six (6) scheduled regular season games, followed by one “bowl game” that will match teams based on their performance during the regular season. All games will be played on Sundays unless their are exceptions.

Tonight, July 6, is the last registration and equipment sizing event. After this final event, the registration fee increases by $25 to $175. (Current registration fee is $150.) Please be sure to register as soon as possible, as late fees cannot be waived.

Hempstead Cheerleaders Host Summer Cheer Camp on July 23

Hempstead Cheerleaders will work in small groups with the kids to teach them the fundamentals of cheerleading along with pride and sportsmanship. Cost includes t-shirt and bow. Register online at: http://hempsteadcheer.dbqschoolscamps.com/

This coach clinic will focus on youth player safety. All DIFL coaches (and other YSF coaches) are eligible for this free coach clinic, whether they have already registered or not. The clinic is required for each team’s PSC (Player Safety Coach), but all coaches are encouraged to attend. To streamline the event, please register online in advance.

DIFL has added a registration and equipment sizing event to the schedule. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. This will be the last sizing and registration event before DIFL begins assessing a $25 late fee the following day.
