Bowl Games!!!

The Dubuque Independent Football League (DIFL) are pleased to invite all Eagle Bluff Conference teams in Division 1 and Division 2 to a post-season series of “bowl games.” DIFL (Dubuque teams) are providing nice venues for these games, printed programs, awards, and more. We expect this weekend of bowl games to be a fantastic event that all participants will enjoy.

The purpose of the bowl games is to serve in lieu of playoffs for the Eagle Bluff Conference. As you may know, Youth Sports Foundation (YSF), our governing body, does not involve itself in post-season play of any kind, nor tournaments, and that includes playoffs. It is up to all of us to organize post-season play if we are interested in doing so. When DIFL transitioned to YSF, we worked out a transition plan so that, for 2016, DIFL will invite all Eagle Bluff Conference teams to a bowl game weekend in lieu of playoffs. In the future, this may evolve into a tradition that is coordinated by all Eagle Bluff Conference teams. Until then, DIFL (Dubuque teams) are happy to host this event for FREE. Instead of multiple levels of playoff games like in the past, each team in the Eagle Bluff Conference can play just one post-season “bowl game” against a team of similar capability if they choose to participate. This will shorten the post-season play to avoid burn-out, but still provide kids with a meaningful post-season experience. And who wouldn’t want to play in a “bowl game” at a great facility? We are confident this will be a great event for all involved.

There is no charge to individual teams who participate in the post-season bowl games for Eagle Bluff Conference Teams. The event is FREE.

How It Works

As soon as the last regular-season game has been played, planners will match up participating teams and schedule them in the tentative time slots mentioned below. Match-ups will be determined based on multiple criteria, including performance during the regular season, matching teams of similar capability, as well as *trying* to insure that each team plays a team they have not played before (if possible).

All bowl games will be played at Loras College, University of Dubuque, and Dalzell Field.

Bowl games are scheduled for the weekend following the final week of regular season play. Exact times are tentative for now, but will be confirmed very soon.
  • Saturday, October 29. at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 30, at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.

Please Confirm

Coordinators should please send email to to confirm whether or not your team wishes to participate in the Dubuque bowl games. Please confirm, either way, by September 30, 2016. The earlier we receive confirmation from each team, the better we can plan a successful weekend of bowl games.

Week #1 Results

Good news, youth football fans! Game scores and team standings are already up to date at! Who remembers this information being updated this promptly?!? Let’s all give ourselves a pat on the back for doing such a great job reporting scores. Non-Dubuque teams have been particularly kind by providing us with results for our website, which we greatly appreciate since they are only required to report their results to YSF. New Football Rules

There is a new webpage for football rules. The main purpose of the new web page is to make the rules easier to read online, more mobile-friendly for reading on phones, easier to print, and easier for volunteers to update.

Go to Rules

Along the way, we edited the text of some of the rules to make them more clear. We also changed a few rules with permission of YSF. To see recent changes to the rules, you can always go to the rules page and click the “change log” link at the top of that page.
